June stuff

June has FLOWN by. We've have a lot of happenings. Soccer camp mon and wed monrnings for weston and savanna. Gymnastics wednesday for fiora. Baptisms, birthdays galore, fathers day, showers, dinners, it's been fun. I have seen more of my side of the family this month that the whole year put together.

My parents falling asleep after Sunday dinner.

Sav, Fi, and Wes with cousin Lucy aunt Rachel and uncle Joseph over for a sunday dinner.

Savanna fell off her bike and the girl behind her ran into her face. Bad fat lip.

Savanna dressed Weston up like a clown for her carnival in the back yard. She invited 10 people and managed to get 2 girls to come.

Then this ordeal of my starting summer school has thrown a bit of a curve ball at us. It was like having a pre-mature baby..."You've been accepted into the program! By the way it starts next week." My sister Kynsie was here most of last week tending the kids for that, and this week my niece Lacey Weight is watching them down in Gunnison so they can make some memories with Grandma Sandy and Grandpa Neil. I hesitated to send them down there because Sandy Schauers is experiencing a lot of painful symptoms with another cancer flair up, but as this will be the kids' last chance of the summer to go to Gunnison for more than a day we stole Lacey so she could help out and took them down. That will be of tremendous help to me, I'll get a lot of school work done and preparation for our trip to Bear Lake. But lets all pray for Sandy.

Father's day was kind of an afterthought this year, and I was instructed not to buy Jared any gifts as usual. But I do want to say that Jared has been working tremendously hard this summer and I've noticed and I appreciate his efforts. He may not be home a lot, but he is here for Family Home Evening, his calling, church, and he still finds time for a date once a week with me. The kids love their dad. Savanna was so happy her father was able to baptize her. Jared took Fiora with him to get a hair cut and she really felt cheered up by that outing with him. Weston and Jared like to rough house, and Weston usually gets the worst of it, but he must like it because he initiates over and over. I love you Jared. Thanks for all you do.

Much Realestate equals Invisible Daddy

"No Husband About"

During summer vacation with no husband about
Mom said "We will have an adventure no doubt!"
We'll make lots of mem'ries, we'll play and have fun
We'll all love each other when the day is all done

This was the idea, this was a good plan
But much more than that came about with this clan
Heather, Savanna, Fiora, and Wes
Found staying inside made it quite a big mess.

In addition to fun we need kids that will clean
So chores were created and kids said, "How mean!"
Dishes, and sweeping, bathrooms that shine,
Picking up everything, his hers and mine.

All of this cleaning makes everyone tired
Before it is done they wish mother was fired
Distracted by playing they forget what to do
And play soon turns into a fight, maybe two

Through yelling and tears mom sees to the fuss
And trips over toys that should have been picked up
"Savanna stop hitting! Weston be quiet!
Fiora I asked you to clean, I don't buy it!"

So mother came up with a few other ways
to make her kids listen and do what she says.
Bribery! Hey that is something to try
They'll do what I say if give them a "why"

In ten minutes flat they had the house clean
When mother said "How bout we do chuckecheese?"
But one hour later they were quite bored of that
So mom was left wondering "Now what kids now what?"

I've fed you three meals, and stories we've read
We've watched a few movies, and made all the beds
We roasted marshmallows, we've gone to the store
I am out of ideas and still you want more.

You've fought and you've cried and you've taken your baths
Now go brush your teeth while I take out the trash
Now right into bed, I don't want you to shout
It's hard for your mom with no husband about!

With the kids all in bed and the noise all but gone
Mom lays on her bed and thinks where'd I go wrong?
Then softly a voice from the bedroom calls Wes:
"Mom we forgot to say prayers, can you help?"

So a prayer is said by a sweet little boy
and mom's heart is softened and filled up with joy
We had lots of troubles, but the good Lord above
Reminded me I have 3 children to love

I'm so glad I have Him, I'm glad He's about
I'm glad the Lord helps me when Jared is out.

Jesse and Kelsy are homeowners

After a nail biter interim from contract to closing, Jesse and Kelsy are officially home owners! They closed on their newly constructed home in Eagle Mountain and will move in this Saturday! Wow, I can't believe they have lived here for a year. They were such patient tenents, having to always sleep during the day couldn't have been easy in a house full of kids. I enjoyed getting to know them both better and teasing them a little about the "inseperableness." Good luck to you both!

Westons 5

We celebrated Weston's 5th birthday a bit on the quiet side this year. It was on a Sunday. He got some great gifts and a birthday breakfast before church. He liked the guitar the best but said, "Mom I told you I wanted a yukaleli!" Maybe another year. After church we went to Eagle Mountain and had a party with the Barretts. We picked up this awesome cake on the way, my friend Sara made it for him and saved me a lot of stress. Weston loved it and it tasted good too! My parents generously gave him their Nintendo game cube that has become obsolete thanks to Wii. They even bought him a controller and 2 games to go with it. Weston loved it. Grandma Rappleye and Grandpa Neil/Grandma Sandy gave him cards with $$ in them! He doesn't even know what to do with all his money. He also got some books from aunt Heidi. We love you Weston, Happy Birthday!

Savanna's Baptism

Savanna's baptismal service was flawless. Grandma Sandy gave a wonderful interactive talk on baptism, Savanna sang beautifully, testimony's were borne, and many family members and friends were there. We were so blessed to share the service with the Hanks family for Dawson's baptism, they have been such great friends and neighbors to have, and Dawson has been my piano student. The spirit was strong and it was a very joyful occassion. Savanna just glowed. She loved her "real" set of scriptures we gave her with her named embossed on them. Savanna wanted to get baptized again! I remember feeling that same way when I was baptized, also in june, 23 years ago.

Heaven sent

My niece Lacey Weight age 15 has been staying with us this week while her parents are on a cruise. If I was to choose a week this year to have torticollis this would be the week I choose. (BTW The cause of the torticollis is a mystery.) Lacey came Saturday night and my neck and shoulder muscles seized on Sunday morning. Not a coincidence. She and her dog Kessie have been heaven sent help. The kids love Lacey and play with her and the dog, and they want to sleep right in her bed. Lacey helps them get their chores done, and I have been able to lay down and rest my neck because she is with them. The kids wanted to go swimming and thanks to Lacey they could, all I could do was watch crockedly from the grass while she swam with them. I didn't have to wonder what to do with the kids when I went to the doctor. Jared took them to the theater to see "UP" and just dropped them off with Lacey and then picked them up when it was over. I can go to my physical therapy session without worrying this morning, Lacey will be here. So Thank You Lacey and come stay with us any time!

Wry neck

torticollis

abnormality in which the neck is in a twisted, bent position such that the head is pulled to one side and the chin points to the other. In infants the most common causes of torticollis include congenital shortening of muscles on one side of the neck, malposition of the fetus in the uterus, and trauma to the sternocleidomastoid muscle of the neck during birth. In adults, poor posture, tumours of the cervical spine, and inflammation of cervical lymph nodes may cause the condition. Treatment may include stretching of the neck muscles, applying heat to the affected area, traction of the cervical spine, or a neck brace.

For five days I've had neck pain and finally submitted myself to a doctor visit, torticollis is my diagnosis. I had to get an x-ray to make sure I had no tumours on my spine. I guess the cause is poor posture because I have no babies to lift nor have I been in any accidents that would strain my neck. Pretty painful. But "a wounded lion still wants to roar." I hate trying to take it easy. I went on a fun outing with my friend Cami Turpin, dinner and a movie and I even shopped, wry neck and all.
