June Part 1

I'm doing June part 1 because I have time and its a little overwhelming to do the whole month at once. Sorry not sorry for all the pictures of Sky, I know I don't particularly care to look at pictures of other people's dogs, but Sky is family now so he gets documented as well.
Sky visited the groomer for the first time June 2, he was fluffy and clean and looking good! He is 4 months old on June 20. Sky is pretty much potty trained, we are still trying to get him acquainted with the rest of the house, he likes to chew everything so we have to confine him to the kitchen most of the time. But in all other areas he is very trainable so we have hope.

Savanna is doing great as a certified lifeguard at the Lindon pool. She stands outside in the sun a lot which I'm not sure about, but she has a nice tan now, and has a great attitude and is working hard. She has been babysitting for Shawna as well on her days off. She and I still struggle sometimes to get along because we are so different, but we still love each other very much.

My sister Karli Sue arranged to have a sisters/mom dinner outing for my birthday. We went to Maria Bonitas. I was super excited about it because I've always wanted to do more "girls night" outings. Sadly June 4th happened to be a difficult day for me, I wasn't in a good place emotionally and almost bowed out, but I couldn't do that--after all this was something I've always wanted and when are we ever going to get all 7 sisters and mom together at one time? As it was my two sisters in law couldn't make it. I left my house early to get us a table, but that was a mistake, no one came on time except Krystal, who was the only one here when I ran inside to give someone their phone they dropped right when they called our table! Krystal didn't hear the lady so we got skipped over and had to wait another 45 minutes for a table anyway. By the time we were seated I was emotional, and hungry, and was eagerly awaiting those chips and salsa to help me cope when "surprise!" Mom and I were splashed all over with water the server accidentally dropped on my table. I started feeling like maybe some force on the other side was targeting me, or I deserved some bad karma, as I stood there awkwardly waiting for the people to clean up the mess so I could sit down. My sisters all seemed fine and happy and having a good time, so there was that. When I finally ate I started to feel a little better, and I very much appreciated Karli buying my meal and Holly pushing through my surliness to visit with me, but I'm thinking I'll have to try and arrange another girls night sometime to make it up to myself. Really do love my sisters!

Sky had a hard time with running on the paved trail along the canal the first couple weeks. He didn't like running constantly on asphalt and the bikers and dogs and people distracted him, and so he wouldn't cooperate. I wasn't getting consistent exercise and it was affecting my sleep and moods so I decided another approach, hiking. Every morning we found a hill to climb for 30 minutes. This worked much better! He would go straight up at a consistent pace and race back down so I could get my heart rate up. Also it is beautiful in the mountains in Utah right now. This was very therapeutic for giving me back the desire to stay in the land of the living. This morning Jared and I tried a trail run with him and he did a lot better, again very trainable dog we are lucky.

Cute Fiora is still walking her dogs every day and being a fun companion for me. She has been reading most of her spare time at home catching up on a series she has wanted to read but didn't have time in school. She helps with Sky and went swimming with a friend and had her cousin Lucy over for a sleep over. Right now she is at girls camp hopefully having a marvelous time!
Krystal and Kollin both have back to back birthdays so we celebrated with them at Cafe Rio on Krystal's birthday and at Deer Creek reservoir on Kollin's birthday. The kids had fun eating pot luck and tubing/swimming in the res. People kept feeding Sky junk food and he was stopped up the next day. Jared threw Sky in the water for the first time and he swam like a pro and looked ridiculous after.

Weston's 12th birthday is today, but he is on a scout High Adventure Backpacking trip for 5 days. So we scheduled the All American Gymnastics Saturday June 11 so he could play with his friends and family there for his birthday. 19 boys showed up! It made me so happy to see him doing all the fun things in the gym he never gets to do because he is training. And to see everyone gather around him to shower him with gifts was heart thrilling as well. So glad we made the effort to set that up. It was almost stress free too except that I was a few minutes late getting there because I foolishly thought I could just go to Macey's at 1:45 and order balloons and make it to the gym by 2:30. Heather, next time you need 21 balloons, please just call ahead to order them and pick them up on your way down!

We had a birthday breakfast and opening presents on Sunday June 12th because the girls would be leaving to camp early the next morning. Weston ordered pizza nachos for breakfast and got a video game he wanted and some mini drones and a guitar capo. The girls were off bright and early the next morning and were cuties.
This morning, Weston's actual birthday, I made him a banana cake so we could light some candles and sing, and he quickly had to gear up for his own first ever away from home camping trip. Jared showered him with gear for his backpacking trip, he wanted him properly outfitted. A new nice back pack, new hiking shoes, two light weight pairs of pants, fishing gear, and essential mess kit and toiletries. He looked like a stud on his way out the door this morning!

On Sunday June 12th we were delighted to find two tiny eggs in the chicken nesting boxes! They were so cute and little and I'm so excited to having my hens producing after 20 weeks of taking care of them.  Fiora is holding a regular chicken egg to show you the size difference. I'm sure they will get bigger and more frequent very soon, and we love eggs!

And just because its Father's day this Sunday I thought I would add a tribute to my father. He came over to have dinner with us Tuesday and watch a movie while my mom was on a trip with my siblings to North Dakota, he is watching over my Grandma Rappleye while they are away. What a great guy! I think I won the parent lottery when I was in heaven, my mom and dad are the most loving people you could ever ask for. Whenever I see them this hymn describes how I feel. I think it is wonderful that I have an idea of what joy I will experience in heaven when I greet my Heavenly Parents because I have been blessed with such wonderful earthly parents. Happy father's day Dad.
