June has been a wonderful month full of amazing and fun/memorable experiences, lots of work, great weather, and I guess you can have too much of a good things because I had a bit of a mental breakdown for me at the end of it. The past 4 days I've been trying to slow down and recuperate, doing June post a couple days early hoping nothing else happens tomorrow and I can get through this month alive.
Part of the problem is the MTC exploded with missionaries in June which tripled my work load at work and though I am super grateful for my job there it is hard to balance family, home and work when you have a rather inflexible job that requires in person 40 hours a week and on call after hours every three weeks. So that on top of the rest of this...
First the Barrett Family Reunion in Hildale UT! We haven't had a big reunion since 2020 so I was pretty excited for this. Justin and Kali did a great job organizing it and made the best shirts for us all. Lots of good food and fun games and activities including coral pink sand dunes. I love having an allotted space and time to just be with my family, just like Heaven. God blessed our reunion!
After the reunion Jared, Savanna, Mckay and I went to Hurricane to spend a day playing at Sandhollow reservoir and seeing what shape our house there was left in after three years of tenants. That long drive to southern Utah was done again the following weekend by Fiora and me for our girls trip/fix up the Sand Hollow house over Juneteenth. Fiora and I enjoyed hiking in Zion's and Gunlock reservoir and having some one-on-one time. She leaves for New Zealand in August so I'm trying to savor my time with her. She was a big help fixing the place up. Sadly we were gone on Father's Day but Savanna made Jared a nice breakfast in our absence.
The barn is really coming along, lots of construction on that this month. Including Jared making the doors with his wood working skills. He has been spending every spare minute he can working at the farm, I spent last Saturday helping him load the barn with hay and catching up on my own house cleaning and yard work. Jared and I managed to get a horse ride in together at Big Springs last week which was nice. Canyons are beautiful this time of year.
Random picture of the birthday present my friend Shannon Young gave me--a 1900 printed copy of the Book of Mormon. Also a picture of my quartz nails by Savanna. Savanna and McKay leave for Portland in July so I will really miss our nail appointments and having them around for dinner now and then.
