We had a wonderful trip to Oregon to visit Savanna and McKay, then took a road trip down to California to fish the Trinity River and see the Redwoods. Very very fun! This is Savanna's description of the trip which made my year!
"Wait come back, I miss you already Heather Schauers.
My parents were here for the weekend and then left too fast. It was so nice to escape real life for a couple days and let them take us to do fun activities and to cool restaurants. I really needed that.
Ravens Manor for dinner on Friday. Which I thought was the coolest experience!! Seriously, the place was DECKED out, floor to ceiling with meticulously placed spooky decor in every nook and cranny. And the food was good too!
Next activity, which was all of our favorites, was visiting the pumpkin patch on Sauvie Island. Um, HELLO, it was the cutest thing ever. It smelled like apple cider donuts and my mom helped me choose and cut our very own bouquet of fresh fall flowers. Then we took a hay ride to the pumpkin patch where my parents bought us our pumpkins for the season. I adored everything about this activity. One of my favorite memories ever, and probably my favorite in Portland yet. My parents were so generous and made it so fun. And the caramel apples were mouthwatering. Sauvie Island is gorgeous and anyone who ever visits us in Portland, especially in the fall, is being brought there. Period.
Then hanging out and swimming at my parents hotel before before heading to Charm Thai restaurant for dinner Saturday night. Which is one of our favorite restaurants here in Portland. I mean it’s just so good.
And then they were gone, left on their west coast road trip. I’m so grateful for everything they did with/for us this weekend, can’t wait for next time!"
The rest of our road trip…crater lake, Klamath falls, fishing Trinity river, Lewiston CA, two redwood forests, Florence and Eugene OR. We overwhelmed ourselves with nature! 35 miles hiked. 15 miles biked. 1376 miles driven. Lots of quality time together.
