Ziplining at Sundance

July 2018

Another lovely summer month bites the dust. July was a good month.

  • Fiora's slowly but surely learning how to drive and taking the opportunity to practice whenever our schedules allow it, which isn't often. She is a committed cashier for Lindon pool and never misses a shift.
  • Fiora went to EFY the week of the 4th, it was much smoother dropping her off vs Savanna, and she had a wonderful time and said it was life changing, which is what I prayed for. I checked in on her a few times through the week, and she mostly gave me the face I captured below. She made some good new friends.
  • Fiora bought a lagoon season pass and has been riding the front runner up to Farmington with her cousin Lucy to take advantage of that.

  • Our house is getting a face lift. The front demolition and remodel and roof got done in two weeks, but we've been waiting on the windows for the dormer for 4 weeks now so I don't have a "before" and "after" shot yet. Hopefully soon. We loved the way its turning out.
  • Savanna has been continuing her nanny job this summer, and watches her nieces and nephews when called upon as well. She loves her first cousin once removed Nora.

Almost there...

  • Fourth of July breakfast Jared made his famous frittata
  • We had a last minute barbecue family gathering with my parents and brother Jesse and his family. Always fun to watch the fireworks around the valley from our deck.
  • Chad and Robin brought their girls into town and we had a fun Schauers family dinner at Happy Sumo and the twins Megan and Morgan over for a sleepover one of the days they were here. Savanna did a good job entertaining her cousins.

  • Jared and Justin's cabin in Timberlakes is coming along nicely. Jared took me up there to see the progress one evening and I got some lovely pictures of it. There's a deer in one of them. Hopefully it will be done by October.
  • We got in a couple more practice walks for Trek and one of which was with the youth of the ward up Dry Creek and over to Battle Creek. We were busy preparing for Trek, buying gear and getting pet care and harvesting the peaches.
  • Trek was a wonderful experience! We all left our phones at home so didn't get any pictures there, but got a few before we left. We were tired and dirty when we got home, but so worth it. For me it was like stepping into another time and a better place, fresh prairie air and exercise every day, we were fed three meals a day, lots of time to talk to good people, and many spiritual faith building stories. I didn't want to come home. Everyone was a little kinder, and I was a better me. I also saw what I was capable of and was so grateful for my health--I was able to sleep under the stars like a baby two of the three nights. It was a choice experience for our whole family to be on Trek this year, and I felt like my ancestors were there too.

  • There are a few July birthdays in this family. We celebrated July 9th my dad's 64th, my sister on a mission July 7th, and my nephews Titus and Jamin's 3rd at a new park in eagle mountain. I have such cute neices and nephews.
  • I hosted a family get together with my Aunt Linda and her daughter Alison and her family because my cousin Taylor and his family were in town from Florida. Taylor was like a brother to me growing up so its fun on those rare occasions we get to reconnect.

  • Weston paid his phone bill and tithing this month, he is still coaching at AAG and doing a great job. He had a fun time swimming at the AAG Scera pool party.
  • Jared and I enjoyed a barbecue and play at Sundance one evening with Justin and Shawna.
  • Home Basics invited us to their company zip lining excursion, so the kids got to experience flying down the zip lines at Sundance. Jared took lots of pictures of that.
  • We went fishing on the 24th of  July and to the kayaks out later that week. Trying to take advantage of nice outdoor weather this month.
  • I played a piano piece in church and then helped my mom write a hymn and accompanied the lyricist to sing it in church. Music is wonderful. Savanna loves music too and attempted to try out for "the voice" in salt lake city but didn't work out cuz her parents weren't with her. Weston continues to practice the guitar and is amazing at learning songs via youtube.
  • Just working hard, keeping busy, thanking the Lord for our blessings, and are grateful for our health and strength, our pioneer heritage and the freedoms we enjoy in this country!
