One more blessing for 2015: Christmas break in St George

New Years Eve! Time for me to wrap up this years blog of the Schauers happenings. Lots of running around and family events combined with lots of winter storms makes for a dirty car. Gabe Carpenter autographed our back window and made it easy for us to spot our car in a walmart parking lot.

Jared booked us a hotel in St George over 1 night this week so we went down south where the sun is shining and the snow is minimal to have some fun over Christmas break. We explored Sand Hollow reservoir and actually had a picnic there though it was chilly. We hiked in Zion and were careful on the icy parts of the trail. We went to dinner at Texas roadhouse and stayed in a nice suite at the Comfort Inn for only $65! They had a nice pool and breakfast, and we explored pioneer park/slot canyon and went bowling and trampoline jumping later. We had to drive through 3 hours of a snowstorm on the way home, but otherwise was a great quick trip.

Weston followed me in, we were both thin enough to feel like we'd actually make it through

Happy new year everyone! 2015 was a remarkable year. If and when things get hard I hope we always remember the many blessings Heavenly Father gave our family during this prosperous time: how He watched over us, blessed us in so many ways, and how we enjoyed functionality and love towards each other. Families are forever. I'm so glad I get to be with this one.

Merry Christmas!

We are so blessed! I'm so very grateful for the blessings of this Christmas 2015. So much love to partake of with so many wonderful friends and family. We had a very merry Christmas Eve and Christmas morning!

The kids cleaned the house in record speed so they could open their Christmas Eve jammies!

We had appetizers this year, and every Schauers loved the food and received the gift (my book) so thankfully!

Kayden, and Weston too cool to look at the camera, Fiora hanging with the boys

Christmas Day! We had a Christmas breakfast picnic downstairs of raisin buns and boiled eggs and oranges, and I gave a spiritual thought before we opened gifts. I spoke about how abundantly we are blessed, not because we have money for presents, or food and a nice home, or even because we have health and safety, though those are wonderful blessings. The reason we sing of being so blessed of the Lord is because the Savior loved us enough to atone for our sins and give us the greatest gift of all time, eternal life with Heavenly Father. The presents we give each other are to remind us of the love Jesus has for all humankind to save a fallen world. We can have perfect peace in a world of tribulation because of His love and never need fear if we stand as a witness of Him, even if we have no gifts, no food, no health, or no appreciation for the good we do. How I love our Savior!

Then the fun started. We might have gone a bit overboard on gifts this year, but the kids were like "hey you can go overboard on us any time!" They loved their presents.
We got 7 inches of snow during the night, White Christmas!
Waiting to come upstairs and see the glorious gifts!

Stockings are a highlight, earrings, socks, makeup, lipgloss
Ties, rubiks cubes, and a harmonica in Weston's stocking!

Cat pillow and stocking joy

6x6 Rubiks cube, he missed the girls' gifts to work on this

something to wear

Nothing to read, they got movies instead

Something they want

something they need

Fiora got a desk chair, matches her bedspread

Sav's favorite gift, gel nail UV light
Jared filming the cornucopia of commercial happiness

Weston's favorite gift was legos and he disappeared right after to work on his Avengers tower. Here's the aftermath, Fiora cleaned it up this year as a gift to us

Our greatest gift is our children

Pre Christmas

Here's what went down before Christmas.
I got to watch Knightly and Bourne while their parents had a Christmas party, they even got to sleep over which Knightly liked and Bourne did not.

The kids enjoyed a Schauers cousin Christmas party at the Snows

Making pioneer crafts at the Grandma Sandy Christmas Party

Christmas like the pioneers

All the Schauers and Jensen kids, aunt Wendy and one Snowman

We had the Snows over for our own little FHE and gift exchange. Wes got protector of water bionicle.

Fiora got a cat necklace and earrings, and Sav got nail polish from Aunt Wendy!

Savanna created silent night nails for me and Fiora

Lots of snow hit us in December, Mount Baldy looks majestic all in white

Savanna had a violin Christmas concert and is on the student body so she got to help conduct

she is hidden behind a stand so we couldn't see her face, but she did great
We had a Barrett Family Christmas Nativity on the 21st, mom and dad were narrators

Rachel was Elizabeth and Joseph was Zacharias, and Sylvan was Angel Gabriel

Katy Sue was baby John but didn't like it, this was the best picture I could get of her

The adult audience trying not to be tired and bored, the kids anxiously waiting their part

Sophie was Mary, Travis was Joseph, and here is Gabriel again

Jamin was baby Jesus, he didn't like the manger but did ok when Mary held him

Weston, Mekhi, and Travis, Shepherds

Sophie and Jamin, Mary and baby Jesus

Savanna, Fiora, and Lucy, hosts of angels

Maybe the kids are bored and tired too ???

Dexting, Aeven, and Justin (standing in for Knightly) were three wise men

We had to do it fast to keep kids happy and engaged, and some had to leave, but it was fun
Jared had a birthday on Dec 22, he is 38 years old! We had grapes crackers and cheese for his bday breakfast

Celebrating at Tucanos, Jared's birthday dinner tradition, uncle Aaron and Lexi sat by us

Jared doesn't like to get gifts, so I wrote him a song and Savanna made a video for it, turned out great and Jared loved it!

Selfies with Lexi and Brooks at Tucanos!

Kids entertained so easily by cameras
Weston had an internal gym meet on the 22nd, not competitive, but he still did great!

He scored 70.7 overall at a level eight which is a great start for the season! Smallest on his team but he held his own!

But the fun doesn't stop there, on the 23rd we went to Todd's and had dinner and sang Christmas songs around the old Schauers player piano!

Other fun things not pictured: Jared held a company party for Home Basics employees and their families, they got to all eat at Maria Bonitas and were showered with gifts. On the 20th Heather led the ward choir in three numbers for the Sacrament Meeting Program and it went very well. Heather played for Karli Sue and mom to sing "Baby Tucked Softly" at Karli's ward Christmas party and helped them pack so they could move apartments that day. Jared and Weston visited his Dad in Gunnison and watched the BYU/Utah game with him and enjoyed dinner with Neil and Bonnie. Weston had a Christmas party and gift exchange with his AAG boys team, Fiora had a Christmas party gift exchange with her friends, and Savanna got to go see the lights with her "other family" the McIntyre's and play games with them. I don't think we could possibly have celebrated the season more than we did! And that was all before Christmas eve!!!
