Missed these

I missed a couple things in July because there was so much to post about. My sister Rachel left on her mission to Frankfurt Germany! I was able to have lunch with her at Chik Fila before she entered the MTC, and she was there 6 weeks and is already in Fankfurt getting used to the culture and being immersed in the language.  I'm proud of her decision to sacrifice her time for the Lord and I'm praying for her every day.

Also a funny story, Savanna all summer liked to stay out til midnight with her friends, but sometimes she came in before 10. Well one evening she came home around 9:30 and we all saw her come in and go downstairs, so we thought she was in for the night. She didn't communicate with us a whole lot in June and July. Fiora went to bed around 10:30 and checked the doors to make sure they were locked, and locked the door to the garage as well thinking she was the last one up. Savanna had actually exited the house unbeknownst to any of us, and came home a little after the midnight curfew to find herself locked out! She texted everyone in the house, no answer, she texted her friends, no answer, she texted all of Wendy Snow's family, no answer, so she ended up sleeping in her black car with a towel to cover her.
I woke up at 5:15 am and saw all Savanna's angry texts about being locked out, jumped out of bed and unlocked the garage door, opened the garage, and looked in all the cars to find her, but she was no where in sight. I went down to her room, not there. Was she in the back yard? I went back to my room to try and text her, and a few minutes later I heard the door open, Savanna was walking in, she had gone around back to pee on the grass while I was looking for her and came back around front to see the garage open! She tried to blame it on Fiora for locking the door, for Dad for not answering her texts, and me for always turning my phone off at night, but the truth of the matter was Savanna didn't tell anyone she was leaving, didn't call Dad or anyone instead of texting which would have woken him right up, and didn't tell Fiora to keep the doors unlocked for her. So it was mostly her own fault. Lesson learned though! She was mad and tired all that day but a couple days later we were laughing about her forced camp out.

July 2017

July sure didn't seem to last long, but I have lots of pictures so I know we had enough time to do lots of things!

  • Our nephews Seth and Miles and niece Lexi surprised us with a visit the first Sunday of the month and I was sure grateful with the help they gave me preparing dinner for my family that came later. I let Lexi collect the eggs and take them home. Love them!
  • We spent the fourth of July with the Snows this year. Nice family barbecue and fireworks after. My kids enjoy getting hazed by their chief master cousin Austin.
  • Rachel Dawn turned 19 and we celebrated her birthday at my parents, I brought some steaks and we cooked them over a fire, and had a game of Ninja in the middle, and presents. Holly's kids thought it was funny to jump in front of my camera and photo bomb, and for some reason opening their mouths was a necessary part of this prank, I have three pictures of three different kids doing this. Travis jumped in the picture too, but he just smiled his toothless grin.
  • We celebrated my dad's 63rd birthday on the 9th and got to hear Rachel's mission farewell talk the same day as well and have some extended family over. We got to see my aunt Linda Whiteley which was fun.
  • Weston slept over at Treven's and saw spiderman homecoming with them as part of the birthday gift the Carpenters gave Weston. He had fun playing there.
  • My peach trees which I have been diligently composting, trimming, and thinning yielded about 30 or so peaches, but they were the biggest tastiest juiciest peaches yet! I thoroughly enjoyed having fresh peaches with all my meals for about a week.

I love the awkward yeti comics and this one I loved because it really summed up my Addiction class I taught in June. OK now back to July.

  • Jared and Weston messing around with Sky
  • My nephew Seth and his wife Katherine were sealed in the Provo City Center temple July 11th which was a very splendid occasion. Weston came with and did baptisms while we were in the ceremony.
  • My nephews Titus and Jamin had birthdays so we had a family gathering, slip n slide kick ball and birthday party for them. Kids had a fun time!
  • Fiora went with Heidi Weight and her granddaughters to Grandpa Neil's to check out a horse for sale. It wasn't a good fit but Fiora had fun trying to ride it and playing with the girls.
  • Our niece Ashlyn Snow is getting married in a few days and she had a bridal shower we made it to, she was a cute bride to be and we had a lovely time. Ashlyn and her soon to be husband Santiago are renting our basement apartment so Jared put up a decorative wall and I helped him paint it, got the carpets cleaned and lightbulbs and keys so its ready to go!
  • Jared has been into wood working lately and bought the plans for this double wooden seat porch chair. He worked hard on it and it turned out great.

The highlight of the summer was probably the impromptu visit we had from the Wilkinsons. Rachelle's grandpa Curtis died and she had to bring 6 of her kids to Utah for the funeral, and wanted to stay with us again! I love having them here. I worked hard to get the house ready for guests, and the quints and Kaiya took the basement with Weston, Rachelle took fiora's room, and Fiora took the office, and Savanna ditched us all to stay at the Snow's for 6 days. Ha ha. We missed Sav but appreciate her making room for guests and giving up her bed. Savanna enjoyed her time at the Snows. Things we got to do with the Wilkinsons included

  • Kyndall getting up before me every morning so she would be sure to have dibs on watering the plants and collecting the eggs. After a couple days I just trusted her to do it on her own, appreciating the help, and after they went home and it was up to me again, I found the chicken coup in a bit of disarray. lol
  • Kaydence and Rustin joining me to take Weston to gym and watching him train for an hour, love having someone appreciate it like I do!
  • Attending a lovely funeral service for Max Curtis, and visiting grandpa Rappleye's grave and Fort Williams
  • playing at Neptune park
  • dinner at Chubby's where Kaydence and Ryder both ordered mac n cheese with a side order of mac n cheese, I got the biggest kick out of that.
  • Camping out in the back yard in Jared's new tent
  • Having them join us for church
  • Sunday dinner, s'mores around the fire pit, and an FHE lesson outside. Rachelle's kids were riveted to my lesson, while my kids had the same glazed over look in their eyes, it was nice to have some attention for once ha ha.
  • ATV excursion to Cascade springs Monday morning, Jared loaded two four wheelers and the Ranger so we could all go together! It was a beautiful morning and so nice to be in the mountains. I forgot how fun four wheeling is.
  • Pioneer Day potluck with the Barretts: mormon rook, badminton, and pickle ball, lots of fun. I feel like we really savored the summer while Rachelle and her kids were here. Miss them!

My parents are in England now so I've been helping Kynsie and Krystal and Joseph watch over Grandma Rappleye. Savanna is undergoing treatment for Cephalagia, forward neck syndrome, which has caused some pain and needs consistent chiropractic care for a few months. She may have to stop being a lifeguard because of that. Jared works hard with real estate and was just called to be the young men's president, so he is busy. We are still diligently trying to find a home that would be a good fit for my parents, grandma, and Krystal and Kollin. We are blessed with lots of work and fun things to do and are grateful for our blessings.
