June 2019

June was a month of renewal and re-energizing for me and I'm sad it's over. There were several times this month I would say "I wish June could stay forever." Although there were a few things I had to grieve the loss of (Savanna's childhood, Weston's gymnastics, and my Successful Therapy job), there were moments of celebration, family joy, and savoring the beauty of this Earth and my life.
First we celebrated Grandma Rappleye's 98th birthday at Timpanogos park. How I love this wonderful lady! She raised 7 wonderful children and her grandchildren (of which I am privileged to be one) are among some of the best people I know and some of my best friends. I feel honored to be one of her posterity forever.

I've had the privilege of serving you Grandma in a personal way the past 5 years, and hope I have been able to pay you back in a small measure for the service and love you gave to me growing up and into college. My sisters treated me to their company for some sushi after I watched Grandma R for a couple days. The two Lu's, Lucy and Luella, crashed our party.

Weston turned 15 on June 14th and he celebrated his day by fishing at Strawberry reservoir, and coming home to some presents with me, Rachel, Grandma and Grandpa Barrett and Grandma Rappleye to celebrate him. We love this handsome, kind, righteous, talented man!
The next day we took Savanna and Fiora and their significant others, and 4 of Weston's friends, and Trevan and Lucy to Pizza Studio and the Scera pool for some more fun partying. Weston has been learning tennis at a tennis camp every morning and intends to try wrestling with PG as well. He's working on scouts and getting his learner's permit.

I took a couple days off work and bought a few books and reserved our mountain home for a few days to recharge my batteries. Summer is the time to be up there! The trees and air and water are so majestic and renewing, I could have stayed all month, but there are lots of responsibilities I was leaving to everyone else while I was gone my 48 hours so I just had to soak it in as much as I could.

Jared is super busy in June but he still makes time for a date with me once a week and sometimes joins me going to the grocery store. He made it to the Strawberry Days parade with us one Saturday morning. That was actually really fun and I was brought near to tears when the veterans and flag rolled by. I'm grateful to live in this wonderful country, and community.

The kids got to spend some time with their cousins from Montana, don't you love that we can just be outside and not freeze! Savanna enjoyed some strawberries and cream with us for Sunday dinner. And Weston got to go to EFY his first year, and he loved it! He can't wait to go next year. Our dog Sky was sure happy to see Weston when he got home. Savanna and I biked through provo along the river and the water is so high we rode through a couple flooded parts, but so fun. Savanna has been watching her cousins lexi, ava, and archer twice a week and giving violin lessons to earn money, and donating plasma.

We spent a Friday in Ogden attending Reed Mitchell's wedding and fishing pineview reservoir. We just can't get enough of outdoors while it's actually tolerable and sunny. I'm so solar powered I don't know how much longer I can take it living through Utah winters. We stayed and went to lunch with Fiora and Cade Trappett, and after fishing changed clothes so we could be at the reception. Savanna and Joey joined us for that.
