January 2022

Happy new year! There is a possibility that after Weston graduates high school I may close my blog posts on the Schauers Hours. It has been a good way to keep our family history while the kids have been growing up, but with all three kids moving out this year I think I will turn to other ways to keep our family history and cherish this forum as my "child rearing years" only. So I hope you enjoy these next six final entries of our journey, whoever may still be reading after 15 years of blogging.

January had a few picture worthy happenings, most pics are from Weston's senior trip to CA (the pictures are in reverse order sorry). But here are all the Jan highlights:

--Savanna has been working steadily every day to plan and prepare for her and McKay's wedding on 2/22/22. She has a vision as has been undaunted in trying to get it as close to what she hopes for as possible. Getting brides maids set up, decorations, jewelry, invitations to almost 500 people, program outlined, dance rehearsals, and much more. I just support and pay and keep track of expenses. It's getting close and we are looking forward to enjoying all the fruit of her labors. Sav still manages to keep doing her nail tech job, and gave me a fun set of purple fad nails this month I love. Oh and I included some pics from an Instagram story Savanna made that I thought was wonderful, I'm proud she persevered.

--Fiora got a cat for Christmas named him Jax. She has taken such good care of that Bengal kitten, despite complications in his health and having to pay some vet fees she is very happy with her new little fella. She came to visit one Saturday to shop for a dress which was fun, then another day Jared and I enjoyed a parent-daughter date meeting her in Layton for some Red Lobster and shopping. Fiora makes most of her own food and sometimes sends me a picture of her meal, I love it. She is working toward setting up her own esthetician booth and we are proud of all her hard work.

--Weston continues working hard at school and his dog grooming. He has been applying for colleges and has already been accepted at one (SUU but not his first choice) and offered a scholarship there, so his academic work is paying off. He is planning to defer to serve a mission for the Church so we do plan on seeing him off one way or the other this year. He has been growing his hair out before he has to chop it on his mission and it is long enough to braid now ha ha. Weston has also been practicing with a rock band called "Jade Valley" and recording songs for the PGHS radio station. He is vocals but can do about any of the parts if needed.

--Weston and Heather took a trip to California. I gave him this Universal Studios trip so I could have maybe-the-last-time-ever one on one time with Weston. We also toured the Warner Brother's studio. We both had a fun time in the more temperate climate playing and being entertained. Thankfully we were safe and healthy and no incidents of stress occurred there.

--Jared decided to start our final bathroom remodel this month, we have done about half the work to finish it and hope to have it done by the wedding. Jared continues his real estate and horse/farm work, he takes good care of his properties and animals. He and his buddies go on horse rides cold or not. Jared also has been improving his cooking skills, using a wok and making incredibly good food so much so that we don't even prefer to go out to eat anymore. Better food, better prices, no waits if we stay home!

--My sister Heidi and her Carpenter family all moved to St George in January. I did what I could between my own busy schedule to help them pack and stuff but it wasn't much. Thankfully I could make them a couple Sunday dinners and provide a place to stay before they traveled down there. We will miss them but are thankful they found a home that works well, the timing of the sell of their house and the move into their new home was miraculous, and proud of Gabe is doing so well at the new position.
