November 2021

Much to be thankful for! The main events this month were about Grandma Avonell Rappleye 1) finally graduating from her 100 years of earth life, and 2) her weekend long funeral. The last weekend in October Granma started acting strange, and manic, saying she "can't keep the angels waiting any longer," and she "has a mission to do," and was up for three days and nights talking about it. My parents finally gave her some medication to make her sleep and she slept for two days and two nights, then woke up and struggled for life for another week, and finally slipped away at 10:30 pm on November 2, 2021. What a relief for her to be free from her limited brain and body. What a relief for my parents who have been caring for her for 12 years. Yet still a bit sad when someone you love departs from this life. On November 14th we had a viewing a program, on the 15th a viewing and funeral and luncheon, and Nov 17th her graveside service at Camp Williams. It was wonderful to celebrate the life of my beloved grandmother, who was very loved by many many people, and remembering al the wonderful qualities she lived and taught.

We had the Wilkinsons (Jayson, Rachelle, and Kaiya) and Shane and Sam Curtis stay with us the weekend of the funeral. Their family was all in town so we didn't see them much but it is still good to see them, and we got to serve them breakfast for a couple days.

We have been busy working the 261 N farm house, getting the yard cleaned up for winter and the house cleaned up for renters. Jared has lost about 10 pounds working so hard day and evening on the property. I like to see him have a good work to do. I've worked myself to the bone as well a few times, and am keeping in shape because of it. We have four horses boarding there now and an RV that is being stored there for the winter. Should be able to get tenants in the home in December. Some before and after shots below, and Jared likes to take the kids of those who visit us on tractor rides. :)

Weston had an injury to his foot after doing a back flip off a rock climbing wall. Ground was uneven and harder than he thought it would be. Thankfully not broken but definitely bruised enough that he needed crutches for a few days.

I got the finished copy of my grandma Barrett's narrative in the mail. I was going to give it to my dad for Christmas but got too impatient and gave it to him early. He loved it and I'm thankful to have it completed! Also pictured: I carved out some time to watch Jesse's kids for his birthday, Weston went to Sadie Hawkins with his friend Brighton, Fiora came to the funeral and I had an afternoon to spend with her, and Jared and Weston had their Turkey Skeet Shooting event.

Not pictured: Spent the night at Carpenter's so Heidi and Gabe to run down to St George to see about a job offer. Sad for us but great for them, they accepted that offer and are MOVING! I can't believe it, but am happy for the St George people who get the talents of my beloved sister and brother in law for a while! Good thing for Marco Polo so I can stay connected with them.

Thanksgiving was supposed to be with the Schauers this year but they all were out of town thanksgiving day so we had a pre-thanksgiving feast with Jared's siblings and families on the 16th which was nice. Then I got all ambitious and hosted my family at our house on actual thanksgiving. Since it was the "off" year where we usually go with in laws only mom/dad, Heidi, Holly, Krystal, Kynsie, Rachel, Joseph of my siblings made it, but that was still 30 people. I love my gigantic family. I smoked a spatchcock turkey this year and it turned out great.

After thanksgiving dinner McKay Garvin asked Jared's permission to marry Savanna, yay! We love McKay and couldn't be happier about it. Savanna is already thinking about the date and plans to get married 2/22/22. Crazy huh!? So save the date. We think McKay will do the official proposal around Christmastime.
