October 2019

This will be October minus our Kauai Anniversary trip, which will be its own post.

One of the Highlights of October was Heidi Carpenter's 40th birthday celebration, of which I was honored enough to be the host and party planner. I love my beautiful, smart, righteous, kind, strong sister so very much and wanted her to feel every bit as special as she is. We let her know something was being planned but not what, and Gabe took her to the mountain home for an overnight retreat, then brought her to the church where we had decorated with all the Over the Hill decor you can imagine! Lots of people were able to come, we gave all the kids roses and had them line up along the balloon path and hand her a rose so she could sit on her Old Woman Throne and accept her "crown" and "staff" (old woman cane). We had a lovely dinner everyone contributed to and at 6:30 had an epic roast and toast, everyone had written something they love about Heidi and something fun about Heidi on a Over the Hill tombstone paper, and those who wanted to share could share. Heidi's kids treated us to a little skit and we gave out some prizes, then sang the birthday song so we could have cake and brownies. Then present time for anyone who was still around. Thanks to Gabe for conceptualizing the party and inviting people, Kynsie for helping decorate and picking up the desserts, and my and Heidi's kids for helping set up. It was a beautiful evening and I think Heidi felt loved and valued which was my hope. Love you Heidi! BFSF!

Another Highlight of October was the Barrett Family Halloween party that happened at the same church the very next Saturday. I dressed up as a Nunja, and Weston dug out his spider man costume, Jared thought it was hilarious that I drove to the party in my costume. Everyone dressed up and we had dinner again, and Jesse and Kelsy decorated it so wonderfully with all their halloween lore. It also happened to be my Mom's 62nd birthday so we sang to her and gave her gifts, and the day after Katy Sue's birthday so she brought a fun cake. We had tons of fun games and laughed a lot.

Mom and dad spend a day or two at the mountain home for her birthday and this is her getting the birthday gift I left there for her. Weston had Trevan over for a couple days over fall break which made it a lot funner for him. Weston got a nice hair cut. Savanna is doing her Ecuador volunteering still and sent some pictures from that, Aunt Betty Ann said something really nice about her so I took a picture of it. We sent Elder Joseph Barrett an early Christmas gift of a rain jacket so he could benefit from that during the fall and winter season. Then there's the pictures of us training and working with our horse Ranger. IT's been fun with him.

Jared and I celebrated our 20th anniversary and the trip to Kauai will be posted next. But on the actual day we took a picture and went to dinner. One more family party to document, the twin's Evie and Isla's second birthday at the house of jump! They are the cutest and Justin and Kali rented out the whole place for us to have fun there for a couple hours. Love this family of mine. Then there was halloween, Cade Trappett and Fiora went trick or treating and collected a stash of candy. Weston went to a nice party at his friend Luke's house. Jared and I played scrabble. God has blessed us this year, and this month especially. I am very grateful for my Savior and the calling I have to serve Him. I really find so much joy living in his light and Love.
