April 2017

Here we go. April kick started with Weston's regional gym meet at UVU, he did great, here are his scores: Floor 12.5, pommel 12.65, rings 11.0, vault 11.45, pbars 12.35, Hbar 11.3, overall 71.25

The above picture shows that Weston made 10th place over all at Regionals and qualified to go to the National competition in Florida in May. That was an exciting and stressful moment for me, we were leaving for our spring break trip the next morning and I suddenly had another huge trip to plan for!

Spring Break Trip to Texas!
We cannot express enough gratitude to Rachelle and Jayson Wilkinson, Scott and Doreen Smith, and Steve and Betty Ann Curtis for making this possible. They put us up and fed us food so we could have a fun and affordable road trip in Texas. Thank you! We love you.

Day 1 Sunday April 2nd
Up early to get to airport and fly to Dallas and rent our car, only 4 miles on this car, brand new! We really broke it in.  Drive to Austin to stay with the Wilkinsons. Try to listen to some general conference. Love having dinner with Rachelle and Jayson and their family and catching up!

Day 2
Excursion day in Austin: Bridge, hike mount Bonnel, tour the capital, lunch at Torchy Tacos, canoe lady bird park, visit grafiti park, smoothie run, drive past the Austin mural, and dinner at Rudy's bbq with the Wilkinsons. Watch some Studio C with the quints! My kids later said this was their favorite day of the trip.

 Day 3
Drive to San Marcos, shop the biggest outlet mall in TX, tour natural bridge caverns, Hidden passages cave, drive to Uncle Scott Smith's house in San Antonio, catch up with Scott and Doreen and Jared's cousins, and have dinner there.

Day 4
Excursion day in San Antonio: The Alamo, the River Walk boat tour, Tower of the Americas, lunch on river walk, movie at the Alamo draft house, dinner with Smiths at Chapparel mexican restaurant, drive by San Antonio temple. It was pretty cold this day but lots of fun.

Day 5
Drive to Houston, stop at Buc-ee's (biggest, cleanest pit stop in the US), arrive and swim at uncle Steve and aunt Betty Ann's, catch up with them as we drive downtown (thanks for driving Steve!) to look at museums, eat at "Barnaby's" and watch a free musical at the Hermann park! This was probably my favorite day.

 Day 6
Early walk through the forest paths with betty ann and steve while the kids sleep. Visit the big tree house in Cypress, drive downtown and visit the space center, drive back to Curtis' to have a picnic outside, swim, and play games.

Day 7
Baptisms at the Houston Temple, more swimming, canoeing and fishing the pond behind Curtis' house, one more outdoor picnic, say goodbye :(, drive back to Austin, games with the Wilkinsons!

Day 8
Drive back to Dallas, get all the way to the airport, get informed our flight was cancelled, wait around 3 hours to find out how we are getting home, shuttle to the Hilton, walk to a "Whataburger" to eat, and hang around hotel.

Day 9, forced extended stay
Not even pictured, we were so DONE by then, it was up at 5:30 am to shuttle back to the airport to catch a flight to denver and have a 5 hour layover to catch a flight to SLC. we didn't get home until 5 and had to go pick up our dog in Eagle Mountain. Thankfully we got 5 $200 flight vouchers from Delta for all the trouble!

The rest of April was fun too, including Easter! Got the yard cleaned up for our annual Barrett egg hunt and dinner. Fun to have a yard the kids can do that in. We found out Jesse and Kelsy are having a GIRL! So exciting. And we later found out the Kali and Justin are pregnant as well and expecting TWINS! So we have 4 barrett babies on the way.
Also a picture of weston in his new outfit from our texas shopping spree, and Savanna going to Los Angeles for her choir tour! Fun for her. She also had a fun time at MORP, her first official date, with one of her friends James.

We got the kids out one evening to ride their roller blades and enjoyed a nice weather day. Its been a cold April so these days have been few! Weston is the same height as me now and will be taller than me in no time. Also my sister Heidi's family had to move this past week so we have been helping her and I took her kids with me to all the Barrett parties that day, including Aeven's party at the Lehi pool and Robbie's pirate party in Tooele. It was fun hanging it with her boys.
