Milestone: Braces

Savanna has braces now. She is doing a great job taking care of them but has been very uncomfortable for two weeks. She has a wire poking her, and a molar coming in, and a bracket that fell off so the wire irritates her gums, and of course the shifting teeth. We all hope she is all adjusted to them before our trip. I'm happy to get this process started and over with, and know that most likely all three of my children will end up at the orthodontist in grade 5, its a milestone you can count on in our family.

The same week I went to the same dentist to be fitted for a TMJ splint. The past two years I've had a throbbing pain in my right temple, and I've just learned this is because I clench my teeth at night and my jaw is not in a correct hinge position so the muscles were constantly strained. A few weeks ago I woke up with noticeable malocclusion (back teeth did not connect on the right side) and pain in my jaw. The temporomandibular joint had finally come out of joint. I saw a TMJ specialist who gave me lots of education on the subject, and took xrays, and said I was a poster child for TMJ, and then told me it would be $2800 to treat. So I went to the local dentist and he made a splint for $800 that I could wear at night and after three days the pain was gone. Hooray!

This is the only picture of soccer we have so far. Its been all Jared and I can do just to get the kids to the many games/practices let alone take pictures of anything. We have for sure learned our lesson and will not put all three kids on Orem Rec soccer again, but for now we are trying to be happy about it and the kids have really great attitudes about it so that helps. Savanna has gravitated to mostly playing goalie, Fiora does well at midfielder, and Weston is a natural defender. He booted the soccer ball from the mid-line over the kids head right into the goal last game. It was awesome.

Otherwise we are just enjoying the early Utah spring for as long as it will last. The tramp is up and the blossoms are in full bloom and the hot tub is drained. We are looking forward to Easter and our spring break trip to Mexico. Post-spring-break very well may be the next time you hear from me.

Savannah looks beautiful! Aww...the braces days...good old times. Love Weston's book! Super cute! And what a neat idea to have them in charge of breakfast! Trevan made us toast for our picnic the other day that we didn't end up going on - it was super cute nevertheless and I had to snap a shot of it in our lunch bags...with those biscuits you gave me on the side! lol
