July 2024

July definitely was not all fun and games, but we did try to get out and enjoy nature as much as possible because summer. Everyone had a tragedy this month. For example, McKay shredded two of his fingers in a work machine accident. I won't dwell on the negative, thankfully we are all alive and together and healthy.  Weston's doing well too in Brazil, and there are 50 days left until we get to go pick him up! There were definitely some highlights of July:

  • First off, Savanna's baby is still developing well and on target! We started planning her baby showers and she has already received some gifts and we are excited to welcome a new family member.
  • A few more pictures of the weekend getaway where Jared and I drove Skyline drive in the Jurassic Park Jeep and had an overnight stay in a little cabin June 30 to July 1.
  • My cousin Taylor Dickerson and his family were visiting from Florida so we had a Barrett cousin get together and evening visit to the farm. Love connecting with Family!
  • 2 Goat hikes, one to Horsetail Falls in Alpine canyon and another up to Big Springs in Provo Canyon, to try out the goat packs. Jared had to use some trial and error to get them working right but on his camping trip to the Boulders they did great!
  • Fourth of July fun at Jesse and Kelsy's house, snacks, games and fireworks!
  • Birthday party for Heidi's kids at Highland Glen park in Cedar Hills, and some fun time with the Carpenters while they were up north for a trip to Lagoon. (Poor Gabe broke his leg and had to just be carted around and lay around and Heidi had to carry the brunt of all the work, but so glad they came up!)
  • Birthday dinner for Rachel Dawn Sunday July 7. Farewell Sunday dinner for Riley and Sarah Wilkinson who are moving to Texas July 14.
  • A My immediate Family last minute pool party (miracle for me) at the Lindon pool. And a fire pit in our backyard with McKay Savanna n Fiora.
  • Savanna made me and Fiora and her matching bead bracelets. I'm obsessed with them. Love my daughters so much.
  • Jared introduced McKay to fishing the Provo river and he totally caught the bug. Have to wait til his fingers heal to go again though.
  • Luncheon with my sisters in Law Heidi Weight, Wendy Snow and Amy Schauers. Wendy picked up some antique miniatures that I loved so much I staged in my dollhouse and took pictures then found a display case to put them in permanently so no one touches them lol.
  • Day off work to help Karli Sue adjust to being alone with the kids (including a newborn and a diabetic 3 year old) during the day. We got her a new dresser for her boys put together too. Karli is such a strong angel!
  • Jared bought himself a new truck (10 miles on it when purchased). Upgrade for better towing capacity, Chevrolet 2500, he loves it and may keep it the rest of his life.
  • Jared got us ticket to the Days of 47 rodeo in SLC July 22. That was a really fun time and I want to do it again, even though it was so hot we were melting.
  • Jayson Wilkinson came to stay with us the last week of July while he was here for a work assignment.
  • And to wrap things up, Fiora found an apartment in Provo and we helped her clean up and move out, and we are thankful she found an affordable place closer to her work and not to far from us. It was kind of hard for me to leave her there but it's best for her to have her own place.
