Weston, Jared, and Heather got up at 2:30 am and got packed into the white car and picked up Fiora and David at 3 am on the dot. The trip to the SLC airport and shuttle to the terminal and walk through security was quick and slick. We got to our gate with 40 minutes to spare and everyone was in good spirits despite the early hour. McKay and Savanna and Juliette were scheduled on a different flight and different airline, leaving a couple hours after us, better for the baby. Tender mercies getting there--one bonus is that Jar, Wes and H were moved up to row 5 with extra leg room to better balance the weight of passengers on the plane. Wes slept the whole flight and I was grateful he had a little extra space to put his long legs. Fi and Dav were all the way to the back so we waited a bit for them to get off, but were perfectly on time to meet our uber at 10:10am in zone 5. Shuttle stop 5, row 5, zone 5, all my lucky number! Even though our Uber van was very questionable--duct taped seatbelts, dents, strange items hanging everywhere--we got to the cruise terminal safely and had a good laugh about it. I felt happy God was with us and knew he would bless our trip.
Fiora was very excited and delightful, and I was grateful for some time with her and to be there when we boarded the ship--the Norwegian Viva. We were on the boat and eating by 11:45 am and I was keeping tabs on Sav and M via text. They didn't board til 1:45 pm but we found a place to lounge and play "kings corner" until they got there and our rooms were ready. Juliette had a rough travel day! I was so excited to see her and she handled it like a champ. Jar,Wes,H had a balcony room! Wes on the pull out couch and J and H on the king bed. (First time ever Jared got us a balcony room on a cruise and I loved it. I got to watch us disembark from Galveston TX from the deck write in my journal on my own deck in the morning. Soooo nice!) We took Ju, Sav, and M to get some food while Weston stayed in the stateroom and took a 2 1/2 hour nap. Fi and Dav explored the ship while we had wings at the Local restaurant. Juliette explore herself. She is such a beauty and draws smiles wherever she goes. We attempted a family dinner at the Hudson dining room that first night. Ju was pretty tired and done by then, can't blame her. S and M went to bed early and the rest of us caught the comedian show at 8:00pm. I went to bed after that but J and Wes did karaoke til 11 pm! J recorded it for me, very nice.
