Schauers Family Cruise Day 4

Tuesday March 10, 2026

We docked at 10 am and they didn't let us off til 10:30 and we set our clocks back an hour, so it felt like  a loooong morning waiting on the ship to experience Harvest Caye Belize. I did Pilates in the workout room and read scriptures on Deck 8 and wrote in my journal. We all had breakfast separately at the buffet on our own time and met in J & H stateroom at 9:45 am. Fiora let me do her hair in braids, I love that. The whole ship was anxious to get off so it was a long line to disembark, everyone trying to get a good spot on this small island with a gritty beach and a huge pool. Little Juliette still so sick fell asleep on the long walk to the beach.

It was hot! We found some chairs by the pool with a shade umbrella and F and D went straight to the ocean. J and W went straight to the pool. S and H waited with Juju til she woke up. We got her in the pool first, but sadly and maddeningly they kicked her out again bc she is not toilet trained. M and S took her to the ocean but the sand there is so scratchy and the waves big so it wasn't ideal for her there either. I'm not sure she liked it. Sav was handling it all pretty well, I wasn't sure what to do but David pointed out there was a huge splash pad farther down the beach. So we went there and THANKFULLY it was little kid friendly--warm water, soft padding, not slippery. She ran around and loved it! Sadly neither of us had our phones there so we didn't get any pictures but it was so cute. There was even a little water slide Sav took her down a couple times.

M and J caught up with us there but Sav was hungry by then so we went back to our shade chairs. Sav was in a conundrum--buy food at the lodge or get back on the boat? Sav was starting to feel sick herself at this point and while I was trying out the big pool with Jared she and McKay tried to explore the beach/shops. Dav Wes and Fi had found a bunch of seashells and sea snails and were having fun sorting them. Dav and Wes joined a volley ball game and I sat with Fi to watch that for a while. When I went back to the chairs to check on Sav, Jared was asleep and alone, all S and M's stuff was gone. Must've gone back to the boat. The rest of us explored the very small nature park and butterfly exhibit. The butterflies liked my purple dress. We walked to the lagoon where you can rent kayaks but it was getting too hot to do much more so at 2 pm we got back on the cruise ship ourselves.

After cleaning up I tried to go find Sav rather worried about her. She was sick and upset, disappointed in how the day went (understandably) and refused to go to the musical that night saying she was going to stay in and I need to leave them alone tomorrow so they don't have time restraints or places to be with a baby that are not kid friendly. I insisted on taking Juju for at least the net 45 minutes before dinner to help her and she let me, we just played in my stateroom. My heart was broken handing her back to M and goin to dinner without them. I tried to enjoy my meal but was distracted with worry. Sav took Juju to the infinity pool and rested which she needed. The musical "Beetlejuice" was wacky, vulgar, loud, and perverted and I didn't care for it at all. I wish Sav would have gone instead as she may have appreciated it a bit more, but can't blame her for getting sick. I went back to my room at 8pm and D and F came over for a visit and we talked about the day and our plan for the next day. Dav seems to be having the time of his life. Fi was yawning but happy. I felt the sickness coming on myself that night, it was inevitable without much food and drink sharing Juliette and I had been doing. Felt like my head and lungs were filling up with liquid. But vacation we must! Sick or not sick.
