Schauers family cruise Day 5

 Wednesday March 11, 2026

If Juju can do it sick, then I can do it! I was determined to enjoy Roatan Honduras despite my head cold. We split up this day. J, W, and H went to a meeting point at 7:15 am in Roatan for our land and sea excursion. F and D did a different excursion and left a little earlier than we did. S M and Ju stayed on the boat and were free to disembark when they wanted to with no excursion or time restraint. Being sick and it being early I didn't bother with a workout. Because the meeting time was arbitrary we waited 40  minutes for people to join the group, some of which never showed up.

Wes, Jar and I loaded into a van with 2 other elderly couples on the excursion and a tour guide named Jennifer who told us all about he island and mainland Honduras. We saw homes bunched together and built on steel posts all over the jungle, similar feel to the favelas in Brazil. We also saw mansions and resorts. They took us to a view point with vendor stalls and took us to a bathroom in anther shopping place and a restroom. I bought some blue pants. We stopped at a chocolate store and I bought some bars and the boys bough ice cream. We stopped at a rum making shop and saw a beautiful view from there. Jenifer spoke good English and had a nice light about her. They took us to West Bay beach and we boarded a boat with a couple other tour groups, about 20 of us, and took an hour tour of the island from the water, and showed us a dolphin show. Then they let us snorkel above the 2nd largest barrier coral reef in the world. It was grand! I must admit bigger than anything I've snorkeled before, like a big canyon of coral in the ocean. Despite my head cold I enjoyed the swim. They gave us bean and cheese tortillas and fruit punch on the boat and J made a friend with a man from Kentucky. I like him too. We went back to West Bay beach and sat on a very crowded hot beach for an hour. Jared paid $5 to get us a shade umbrella. Then back in the van and return to ship, it was a nice tour. I was wiped out after and just wanted to sleep, but we stopped by Indulge to have lunch before goin to our room.

We did nap and around 4:00om I checked on Sav, so nice their rooms are just down the hall. They had paid $50 for a taxi to take them to the beach and got in the ocean which was fun, but it messed with Juju's nap time so she was cranky all day. Sav gladly let me take her for the rest of the evening. Juju keeps rubbing her head and face we hope she wasn't getting an ear infection. J and H took Juju to get dinner so S, M W, F, and D could all eat at the Commodore restaurant in peace. They had a great dinner but Fiora got so cold they had to wrap her with cloth napkins lol. We found a deck on 18 that was clear of chairs and people and she could run around and not bother people. We got to watch the sunset there which was a beautiful tender mercy. We fed her at the buffet and walked around the minigolf course again and at 6:30 I let Jared go to the "Press your Luck" game show and I took Juju to our stateroom to play. S and M got her at 7:30, very thankful and revived and I was so happy they had a nice evening. They put her to bed and bc I wasn't feeling great I offered to stay and listen to the monitor and read my book. They tried to go out but were so tired themselves came back at 8:30 and went to bd too. W and J stayed out eating more food and goin to line dancing. F and D fell asleep after dinner accidently and slept til 1 am, haha! They had had a great excursion in Roatan and were wiped out. The next day I felt amazed and thankful for all my kids' stamina and positive attitudes.
