Book shelf, Birthday girl, Boat ride

Heather and Charles Albright
We made a few life long friends while we lived in Mississippi eight years ago, Cody and Utahna Albright. They still live in MS but we keep in touch and try to see them whenever they come out this way. Jared had the opportunity to be Cody's grandfather Charles' realtor this past summer and Jared enjoyed Charles company! Once the deal was closed he took Charles out to lunch and I was able to come along.  Charles is a really great guy, just like Cody and Utahna!

Before
Remember that dresser I pruchased last month? Well it has a matching desk and shelves for a corner and Jared painted it up so we could put it in Fiora's room.  Looked pretty good afterwards I thought!

After

Weston was "Hero of the Week" in his class last week. His teacher does this cut thing where the Hero sits in the middle of the class and they all take a turn to tell him what they like about him.  He was also highlighted with a poster and question/answer session. Weston soaked in the attention. It was fun to be there.

Hero of the Week!
If you read my last post about Karli's mission, you will remember the character "noble Dawn" who was of course a real person, and a Sister in Tucson Karli was able to teach and see baptized. Dawn really bonded with Karli, and my Dad was able to get Dawn and her three traveling companions tickets to general conference.  They made the trip back down to Eagle Mountain to have dinner with us and visit. It was so great to meet her!

My sister Heidi turns 33 TODAY!  I took her out to lunch for her birthday Wednesday at Kneaders. They brought her out a free pastry with a sparkler in it, but accidentally gave it to the wrong person. We made them get another sparkler going for us so we could take a picture, it was too awesome. Holly joined us, it was so fun to have some sister time. I wish we could do that more often.

Happy Birthday Heidi!
We had a fun fun day yesterday. For fall break instead of going out of town we decided to have a "fun day with Dad" around the valley.  Jared took work off and took us to the Natural History Museum, to see BRAVE finally (which I absolutely loved), out to eat and JCW's, carved pumpkins so I could get the pumpkin seeds and roast them, and fishing with Aaron and Lexi on their boat in Utah lake.  That was super nice of Aaron to take us out, it was a ton of fun.  We started out slow, but the last hour the fish were practically jumping in the boat. We must have been on top of a school of white bass because all we had to do was dangle our lures over the side and they were biting every 15 seconds.  The kids had a blast.

Jared's first visit to the dinosaur museum, trouble maker.
Savanna still had fun even though she's a tweener
Aaron going from one pole to the next getting fish off our lines!
Unfortunately during the last hour of the fishing trip, my glasses fell in Utah lake.  Little Lexi (age 3) was with us and getting a little bored of fishing, so I held her on my lap and we ate granola and bonded. She was talking up a storm with me.  I was loving it.  She had her mom's sunglasses on her face and was putting them on upside down and she put them on like a headband.  I said, "Now you look like a hot mamma!" She laughed.  Then she grabbed my prescription glasses and put them on my head like a head band and said, "You look like a hot mamma too!" It was so cute and funny how she said it I laughed my head off, and tipped my head back while doing so and those glasses slipped right off my head and dropped in the lake.  Had I known it was only 3 feet deep I would have jumped in after, but thinking it was deeper and not wanting to put my head in the lake water I hesitated and panicked--I'm not allowed to wear contacts because I'm having LASIK next Saturday, nor do I have any contacts or extra glasses. Jared stripped down to his skivies and got in, trying to feel for them with his feet.  But the boat had drifted and he couldn't find them, poor guy was in the cold lake for 20 minutes trying.  It was all very funny.  Thankfully the LASIK center has some glasses my prescription that I can borrow until Saturday.  I felt so disabled yesterday without them!
Jared in his skivies, love you babe!

At least you have a super funny story about losing your glasses! Lexi had fun and told me all about the fish every one caught. Aaron had to tell me about Jared stripping down to hop in the water, what a guy!
